Sami Zayn defeated Braun Strowman by surviving the 10-minute time limit.Cesaro and Sheamus defeated The New Day ( Big E and Kofi Kingston) (with Xavier Woods) to win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships.Rusev (with Lana) defeated Big Cass (with Enzo Amore) by countout. It took place on December 18, 2016 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This was the second event under the Roadblock chronology and the only on pay-per-view as the first one was broadcast only on the WWE Network. He’s a contributor to the Forbes where he focuses on the WWE, NBA and NFL.Roadblock: End of the Line 2016 was a pay-per-view (PPV) event and WWE Network event produced by WWE for the Raw brand. Thus, WWE will need to do something big at that PPV to create some excitement, and the return of Triple H could be that something.īlake Oestriecher is an elementary school teacher by day and a sports writer by night. There isn't a ton of buzz heading into the Roadblock PPV because it's a PPV that feels like we've "been there, done that" with most of the show's top matches. There's no better place for that than at Roadblock. But either way, if the plan is to do the match at one of those two PPVs, then Triple H will have to return to set it up ASAP. Triple H is rumored for either WrestleMania 33 or The Royal Rumble. The clock is ticking down to the return of Triple H, and whenever it happens, the widespread expectation is that it will lead to a feud and match with Seth Rollins, who mentioned Triple H multiple times during his promo on this week's Raw. Balor to headline The Royal Rumble with the title on the line. "The Demon King" certainly has a claim to the Universal Championship, and given his history with Owens, it would be a logical scenario for Owens vs. Though a Royal Rumble return for Balor would be ideal, perhaps it's better for him to come back at Roadblock if he isn't going to win the 30-man Royal Rumble match. Jericho, then it could be the ideal platform to bring back Finn Balor.īalor was initially advertised to appear at Roadblock and recently revealed that he hopes to be back in time for WrestleMania 33, which could be his way of trying to throw fans off so that his surprise is more of a return. If WWE doesn't use Roadblock to set up Owens vs. Owens' feud with Roman Reigns and Jericho's rivalry with Seth Rollins are crisscrossing by design, and it all appears to be leading toward the end of JeriKO.Įxpect Jericho to get involved in Owens' match at Roadblock (or vice versa) and for their interaction to lead to a split, possibly setting up an Owens/Jericho Universal title match at The Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania 33. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho, as JeriKO, have been arguably the most entertaining act in all of WWE this year, but over the last several months, we've seen several teases of a split of the supposed best friends.Įspecially during the last two Raw episodes, WWE has made it clear that Jericho and Owens will soon be going their separate ways after plenty of recent friction between the two. Thus, the best case scenario is for Banks to beat Charlotte, leading to Bayley, who's been underutilized since her main roster debut, finally getting a legitimate chance to feud for the Raw Women's Championship. Charlotte match on PPV, and that doesn't need to happen again. After all, if Charlotte wins this bout, we're probably getting another Banks vs. Ideally, the winner of this match will feud with Bayley heading into The Royal Rumble, a match that can more easily be set up if Banks gets the win. Strowman has improved considerably in 2016, but working with and defeating Big Show could be what really gets him over the hump and helps firmly establish him as one of Raw's top heels.Ĭharlotte and Sasha Banks will battle in a 30-minute Ironman Match at Roadblock, one that should be the end of one of the greatest women's rivalries ever.

Our journey wasn’t to be off grid, it really wasn’t. Just like our lives in general do so if somebody said well you have to do this you might go down that path but that wasn’t your journey. Well that makes sense to me because everyone’s journey to the simpler life takes a different path. It’s the trials and tribulations that we’ve had since we’ve been there that have made us better and stronger homesteaders and just has really worked well for us. But you know, as we were speaking about earlier is that you want to find out how the land lays and everything else so that would be one thing but for me we get asked that question quite a bit oddly enough and I don’t think I would want anyone to tell me anything because that’s what made us the people that we are right? That we’ve been able to persevere through everything. Yeah as soon as you sign the property maybe plant some trees. So maybe before you build your house off grid or whatever get the trees planted as soon as you have the land. We always say plant trees because that’s one thing we did not do.īecause it takes a long time for them to mature so that you can. So what do you know now that you wish you had known then about homesteading? If someone could give you a piece of advice 15 years ago what would it be? And I know you guys have a passion for teaching others and that’s really what your YouTube channel is all about. And so now I look back you know and we did this and it was just an easy kind of transition that we did this and I mean I couldn’t be happier. I did what my parents told me to do, you know go to school try to get a job in the corporate you know and do all that. Well and funny thing is, is when I was a little girl I always wanted to work with animals and do animal husbandry. Well I mean you guys did it together, so if it mirrors it that’s fine. And what did that look like at the time? We had no idea but it ended up looking like a log cabin in the Midwest where we grow our own food, raise our own animals, and live a much simpler life.Īll right. So we decided that we were going to sell everything and calm it down to a simpler life. We had businesses, we were on the go, the rat wheel was turning faster and faster and faster. That means 30 seconds for each of you and the clock starts now.īasically when we were in the city we were just sick and tired of being sick and tired. I would like a one minute recap of your journey to the simpler life. YouTubers with a huge following that moved from city life to country life. Today we’re fortunate to have OFF GRID with Doug and Stacy. This is Glenda Lehman Ervin with Lehman’s on the square in Kidron, Ohio. Doug is a self-taught carpenter and homesteader and shepherd. Stacy is a Holistic life coach with 30+ years of experience in the health and nutrition field. They also grow in raised bed gardens and a Back to Eden Garden to supply them with the food they need for fermenting and living a healthy lifestyle. They have a 3000-gallon rain catchment system that gravity feeds their log cabin and 2 lawn hydrants for the animals. Doug has even mastered the skill of driving a horse and buggy. Doug and Stacy live with no solar or wind power and raise sheep, chickens, guineas, ducks, 2 horses, and are also honey farmers. They have embraced the pioneer lifestyle using oil lanterns and a wood cookstove. After studying 1800’s style log home construction, Doug set out to build the family home with minimal carpentry skills and completed the project in 90 days. They sold their big city house and liquidated 2 businesses and found 11 acres in rural Missouri. Doug and Stacy moved from the St Louis metro area 6 years ago to embark on a more sustainable life plan. His idea was to develop a software that would organize all the elements of drop zone management into a user friendly software. Franz Gerschwiler is a drop zone owner and also is an experienced programmer and developer. It was created by a drop zone owner, who had an idea to combine his knowledge and experience. Although after reading and exploring the functions of Burble software, I wish that my current drop zone was also making use of it! Check out this overview of all the amazing features of Burble, and maybe you will learn somethings, as I have! You want to think about safety before starting a fire and you should keep it in mind while the fire is going, too. Safety Second: Once You Have the Fire Burning Keep the fire small so it stays under control. If you have extra firewood, keep it stacked upwind of your fire, so that a sudden breeze won’t light all the rest of your wood on fire. Wet wood will smoke way more than dry wood. Wetter wood will burn slower, but you don’t want it too wet or it won’t catch fire. Your fire might burn quite quickly if your firewood is extremely dry. When you stop at the visitor center, check to make sure it’s ok to use chemical accelerants, like lighter fluid. #Dead cells campfire skin#Never use any other accelerants, like gasoline, as this can be super dangerous to you and others around you! Also, do not squirt lighter fluid onto embers or open flames, as this may lead to a quick flare up and cause skin burns. Use only lighter fluid to start a campfire. Use matches or a lighter on your firestarter to ignite it it should then catch your kindling on fire, which should eventually catch your larger pieces of wood on fire.Īn accelerant is an extremely flammable liquid or mixture, like lighter fluid, that is used to speed up starting a fire. dried leaves, small twigs, etc.) and firestarter (e.g., paraffin-soaked cotton balls, shredded paper, etc) in the gaps between the wood.Īlso remember that bark doesn’t burn as well as the rest of the wood, so chopping your wood into thinner pieces, to expose more of the interior, will get your fire going faster. One way to start is by laying larger pieces of wood in a cross-hatch pattern, making a small tower. There are many ways to arrange your firewood before you start burning.įire needs air to grow, so don’t just stack your wood in a dense pile. Bringing wood from far away might also bring along pests that will flee your burning wood and potentially invade and cause problems in their new environment. Kindling and wood should be bought near the campground (or collected from the area, if the rules permit doing that - keep in mind, this is not allowed in many national parks). Ask at the visitor center or find the campground host to see if specific areas are set aside for fires, and if there are rules on the size of your blaze.īefore starting your campfire, take a look around your campsite to make sure your tent, gear, and any other flammable objects are at least 15 feet away and upwind of the firepit. #Dead cells campfire full#Don’t assume a bonfire is going to be ok in a busy campground full of kids, RVs and trees. Not all campfires are the same! For some people, the idea of a campfire is two logs quietly burning in a fire ring, while for others, the same word means a four-foot tall blazing pile of wood and brush.ĭifferent parks allow different sizes and types of fires. Again, contact the park when you arrive or shortly before you visit to find out if there is a burn ban or other weather-related rules you need to know. Has it been windy and dry lately? That might mean campfires are banned, or that other special rules or restrictions are in effect. Ask at the visitor center or contact the park before you visit so you know any relevant rules. However, you want to make sure you control your fire, and not the other way around!īefore starting your fire, follow these steps:Įach park has their own rules on where and when you can have a campfire. The smell of woodsmoke and the pop and hiss of burning wood in a campfire brightens any night out in the woods, mountains, or beach. Having an open fire is often a key and enjoyable part of camping. It was a kind of competition in the art of rune making. “People challenged one another with codes. #Celtic runes codeThis makes it hard to figure out which runic letter the code refers to. The problem is that many runes end in the same sound. For example, the rune for the letter U is called “urr” so it is encoded with the rune for R. Nordby thinks the Vikings memorised rune names with the help of the jötunvillur code.Īll runes have names, and the jötunvillur code works by exchanging the rune sign with the last sound in the rune’s name. This is why he has considered other possible uses for the code. It would be pointless to use it for messages,” says Nordby. “Jötunvillur can only be written, not read. One of the reasons for his claim is that the jötunvillur code is written in a way that makes the interpretation ambiguous. “A typical bunch of male adolescents were fooling around and wrote tall tales about treasures and their own sexual prowess,” says Runologist Jonas Nordby. It was found in a burial chamber from the early Stone Age that Scandinavians broke into in the 1100s on the Orkney Islands. The inscription is in cipher runes and in regular runes. “These runes were carved by the most rune-literate man west of the sea,” bragged the author of this text. But I think the codes were used in play and for learning runes, rather than to communicate,” says Nordby. “Many think the Vikings used cryptography to conceal secret messages. The use of runic codes was imaginative, but not mysterious enough for a Hollywood blockbuster. His PhD research has taken him to several countries to analyse runic inscriptions dating back as far as 800 AD. Nordby is the first person to study all the findings of runic codes in Northern Europe, around 80 inscriptions. There were no rune schools then but knowledge of this alphabet could be transferred from generation to generation by linking it to games, poetry, drills and codes, Nordby says. The use of the code as a tool in learning is not as odd as it might seem. The code is in cipher runes, the most common code known from medieval Scandinavia. A rather forthright message written in code: “Kiss me” is etched into a piece of bone found in Sigtuna in Sweden, dating to the 12th or 13th century. The pronunciation and accents often differ a great deal, mainly due to the extremely heterogeneous mix of African languages present in the West Indies, but if written on paper or spoken slowly, the creole languages of the Caribbean are for the most part mutually intelligible with the creole languages of West Africa. Linguists posit that this is because most of the enslaved that were taken to the New World were of West African descent. Nigerian Pidgin, along with the various pidgin and creole languages of West Africa share similarities to the various English-based Creoles found in the Caribbean. Relationship to other languages and dialects Similarity to Caribbean Creoles While pidgin is spoken by many, there are wide swathes of Nigeria where pidgin is not spoken or understood, especially among those without secular education in core northern parts - Gombe State, Yobe State - of Nigeria. There are accounts of pidgin being spoken first in colonial Nigeria before being adopted by other countries along the West African coast. Nigerian Pidgin is most widely spoken in the oil state Niger Delta where most of its population speak it as their first language. Dialects of Nigerian Pidgin may include the Warri Sapele Umuahia Benin City Port Harcourt Lagos (particularly in Ajegunle) and Onitsha varieties. Nigerian Pidgin also varies from place to place. For example, "you no wan come ba?" which translates to "You don't want to come, right?" The Hausa often add ba at the end of an intonated sentence or question. #NIGERIAN PIDGIN ENGLISH EXAMPLES FREE#Another Igbo word that is often used in Nigerian Pidgin is biko, which comes from the Igbo word for "please." For example, the sentence, "Biko free me." translates to "Please leave me alone." in English. Unu has also found its way to Jamaican patois, with the same meaning as in Nigerian Pidgin. For example, "Una dey mad" in Nigerian Pidgin translates to, "You people are crazy." in English. It is often used at the start or end of an intonated sentence or question: "You are coming, right?" becomes "Ṣebi you dey come?" Īnother example is the Igbo and the use of the word abi( another variant of the words ṣebi and ba), adding the word nna, also used at the beginning of some sentences, to show camaraderie: For example, "Man, that test was very hard." becomes "Nna mehn, that test hard no be small." Another Igbo word that has gotten precedence in pidgin is una, derived from the Igbo word unu which is equivalent to the English term "you people". For example, the Yorùbás use the word ṣebi when speaking Pidgin. Many of the 250 or more ethnic groups in Nigeria can converse in the language, though many speakers will utilize words from their native tongues. In 2017, BBC started BBC News Pidgin to provide services in Pidgin. In 2011, Google launched a search interface in Pidgin English: "Effect of Nigerian Pidgin English". Pidgin breaks the communication barrier between different ethnic groups and it is widely spoken throughout Nigeria. Nigerian Pidgin is commonly used throughout the country, but it has not been granted official status. 3 Relationship to other languages and dialects. Unfortunately, such agents require from weeks to months to take effect and are accompanied by the defect of innate inflammatory mediator suppression. Three immune-modulatory agents, including cyclosporine-A eye drops (Restasis), have been approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for DED treatment. Corticosteroids, the most popular anti-inflammatory options, yet are largely limited for long-term application due to severe risks such as glaucoma and cataract. This multi-factor-formed cycle severely hinders effective DED management using any currently available treatment. The vicious cycle refers to a malignant development interacted among inflammation, hyperosmolarity, cell apoptosis, and tear film decline that deteriorates dry eye syndrome. Although the pathogenesis of DED remains only partially elucidated, inflammation, as the consequence of both earlier innate immune response and following adaptive response, has been identified as a critical contributor that can initiate dry eye's vicious cycle. Currently, DED affects ≈30% of the world's population and has become the most common ocular surface disease worldwide, posing an enormous economic burden to society. Moreover, MTem/Los exhibit excellent biocompatibility and tolerability for potential application as a simple and rapid treatment of oxidative stress- and inflammation-induced disorders, including DED.ĭry eye disease (DED), a multifactorial disorder primarily originating from hyperosmolarity of tear film, can result in ocular discomfort and even visual impairment, seriously affecting patients’ life quality. Therapeutically, the dual-functional MTem/Los suppress the inflammatory response, reverse corneal epithelial defect, save goblet cell dysfunction, and recover tear secretion, thus breaking the vicious cycle and alleviating the DED. Mechanistically, MTem/Los effectively decrease ROS over-production, reduce the expression of proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines, restrain macrophage proinflammatory phenotypic transformation, and inhibit cell apoptosis. Cationic MTem/Los improve ocular retention of conjugated water-soluble Tem and loaded water-insoluble Los via electrostatic interaction with negatively charged mucin on the cornea, enabling an increase in therapeutic efficiency and a decrease in dosing frequency. Accordingly, the authors develop micelle-based eye drops (more specifically p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) inhibitor Losmapimod (Los)-loaded and ROS scavenger Tempo (Tem)-conjugated cationic polypeptide micelles, designated as MTem/Los) for safe and efficient DED management. However, there are also reactive oxygen species (ROS) regulating inflammation and other points in the cycle from the upstream, leading to treatment failure of current therapies merely targeting inflammation. Inflammation is one core cause of the DED vicious cycle, a multifactorial deterioration in DED process. Dry eye disease (DED) impacts ≈30% of the world's population and causes serious ocular discomfort and even visual impairment. |
